My husband and I do concrete and have always used a smaller Bosch rotary hammer but when his father burned it up we figured it was a good time to upgrade to the 1-inch Extreme and it was of course way cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else. Sorry Lowe's.
Be sure to buy quality bits with the drill. It makes a difference If it works much better then it does now I may go over to the neighbors and drill some holes for him. I was suprised to see that it has a break in period before it works the best. What takes minutes with my old drill takes seconds. I dont need it often but when I have to drill into concrete I dont want it to take all day, I replaced my older Hammer drills as I have to drill a bunch of 3/4 holes. If you have to drill concrete this is the tool. Very Good tool.
The Bosch 11255vsr preformed great. I must have drilled about a hundred holes around and into the mortar joints. And make a 8.5 inch hole. I should have bought the chipping bit right away, it would have been done in less time. I just got done installing a wall thimble for my pellet stove. I had to go through 8 inches of brick. The hole was completed in less than an hour.
I've found I was looking for in a rotary hammer drill, I wasn't trying to purchase a monster drill but don't fear to buy this, this is a very good drill and also it's powerfull, soft while drilling and comparing with other drill like this it doesn't make a lot of noise, it doesn't bring extra accesories. i'd like them to include extra drilling accesories this make looks better and attactive the offer.
It drills holes in concrete as easy as wood bits in wood. When starting the hole, run in reverse a few turns.
I use DeWalt bits. You don't have to lean on the drill for it to cut.
This starts the hole more exact. It cuts good dry, but you should keep the bit wet and cool.
This thing is great. I drilled 25, 3/8'' 6'' deep holes with a dull bit that I thought was bad.
Just slight preasure, keep the hole cleaned out, and let the tool do it's job.
